Hi friends, welcome to the first episode of Jonny's journal. The snippets from my life that started as an email series but was far too long! In these blogs I am documenting my entire journey as an entrepreneur and it really uncovers absolutely everything I have been going through since leaving full time employment to chase this dream!

Episode 1:

I have actually done it, I have officially made it to the end of the month... Aha it has felt a bit like that this month but boy do I have some exciting things to share!

A heads up to you all, for what you can expect.

5) Genuine honest content that may take a tad more effort than endless meme scrolling and reels melting your brain, but we all know that is good for nothing!

Okay friends because this is my first newsletter it;

1) has no rules/ structure to abide by

2) Has to be good, else you will unsubscribe...

3) It is small so we can build a genuine, connected community!

Right lets tackle the first point, I want to show you some insight into what I am currently doing and how I hope the transparency can help you do similar.

I left the Royal Navy to pursue full time entrepreneurship... Like whatttttt.

Stop and think right now, leaving a £36,000 a year job at 24, to chase the dream of being a TubeYouber and building an E-commerce brand. If you told 16 year old Jonny we actually have the confidence now to be pursuing this, he would of been ecstatic.

Genuinely ECSTATIC!

The fact that I am even writing this Newsletter to 200 people is crazy in itself. I know 150 of you will probably unsubscribe and I would too, this is a long email lol. But for the 50 or so of you that stay, let me start by saying this. If you don't like the direction of your current life, you are going to NEED to take some risks to change that.

Some honesty & transparency

I didn't have a tonne of money saved up to leave, I had/have 6 month of living expenses saved, to cover rent, food, bills and a little emergency float. But apart from saving I have spent the last 6 months building momentum for what my housemate (Dan) and I call an upward spiral.

This included working every single weekend from December to March solidly on my YouTube channel, and my E-commerce brand. I don't want this to be a "work hard", "never rest", "always hustle" type message. But genuinely, if I hadn't of done this, I would be really struggling now.

So the message here, that I'm trying to portray is; if you're like me you; didn't want to go to uni because you had bigger ambitions to do something more and strive to be 'Great' (whatever that means). Then you have to remember that the overnight success of 'The Greats' we think about, happened over decades.

The little skills you're picking up and learning will compile and your consistent movement to the right direction will eventually get you to your goal. And everyone will say you got lucky, only you will know what you went through.

Okay, so we have established I am no different to you, and I am not anywhere near "THERE" yet. I didn't have it all figured out, and I still don't. I have had sleepless nights about the decision, I worry a lot about making money and I am missing the camaraderie of the Navy!

But... I am doing it because I believe this is my purpose. And I hope these little monthly insights help you if you're thinking about starting something, to just start working towards that goal, do your due diligence, then fully commit and figure it out along the way.

My first 2 months...

So we've covered the basis for where/ why I'm doing what I'm doing. Now let's talk about about how the first 2 months went... Firstly I have learnt an insane amount about myself and my routine which I think a lot of people can learn from. I completely overwhelmed myself in April started a billion things and finished nothing. This led me to start a journal and use a Notion weekly planner to organise my brain and life. Which you can download here.

Secondly I learnt this; even though we try to be logical, rational thinkers ours brains will play tricks on us. Let me explain. After failing April, in the month of May I have grown my E-commerce brand to over 12k in revenue!!

Smashing my goal of a 4k month and even hitting a 1.2k day! Crazy!

But here's the problem. You see these numbers and you get excited! I made it! I went to go book my AFF (solo skydiving) course in Portugal with Dan which will cost a total of over £3,000...

But, 12k is a crazy amount, until you remember - the only way to keep making this is if you buy more stock, and scale up your ads. AKA you don't skim any of that money out, you reinvest it all into more stock, and more ads. What does this leave you with? £0 in cash liquid assets... But this is the game of ecom and building a brand, so you need to be patient and have a vision for where it is going!

Friends, the lesson here is always sit yourself down, tally the numbers up, be logical and make your financial decisions from maths, not from emotion. I could of easily booked a holiday with my girlfriend, booked skydiving with Dan and lived it up for the summer. Which would have then completely crippled my business...

Side hustles & what am I doing next?

This leads perfectly on to what most of you are probably trying to do... Side hustles! So what can we do to make a little extra income on the side to cover our bills while we're snow balling ecom?

My choice is social media, I have been learning and trialing different forms of it but I know truly that making 1 good social media page can completely change the game. This is a way to funnel an audience into buying your product or affiliate marketing others.

Which is why my channel at the minute is focusing on A.I and creating content. I have seen the power of using A.I content on the growth of people pages and I can tell you, right now we're in a crazy new phase. It's an opportunity for you to grow from nothing rapidly and then use your new platform to start making you money!

You just have to think of it like this, attention is the new currency right? So if you are garnering a lot of attention, you should be able to monetise it! The corporations are, there's commercials everywhere, so you need to do it too!

Now what do you start? That's up to your personality type but I will break down three options. 1 you start a YouTube channel, this requires a lot of work upfront but if you want the most versatile platform that would be it. I have just created a new video on how you can create a talking A.I host like the channel: 10x Income which has grown to a staggering 250k subs in 5 months (completely faceless!).

The second options is a theme page business, you post short form content and you learn how to caption/ edit clips to go viral. To make money this way you need to be funnelling people to a link in bio, wether that is your own product or someone else's that should be your goal.

The third way is a personal brand TikTok.

Now this is a sneaky insight but I am starting a brand new account. I will be posting my daily life on there, documenting everything and using it as a way to connect, educate and entertain. Now I have seen the power of this from a now Crypto YouTuber called Jesse Eckel. What I can learn from his success is to have a narrative and a massive goal to chase, which your audience will follow along with.

People want to be entertained and a story line that they can keep tabs on for a minute here, and there is great. So pick a storyline and stick to it. Mine is going to be trying to scale my brand to 6 figures, everything I'm doing along the way and the struggles and hardships of this journey!
